Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why should I choose Flamingo Enterprises for my event?

A. While price is an important factor, it should not be the only factor. The DJ is one of the most important factors in determining the success of your reception. At the end of the night what people tend to remember most is that they had a good time at the dance.  There are a lot of DJ's out there - some less expensive, some more expensive, but we have the experience, and the equipment to make sure your night is worry free - which means all you need to do is relax and enjoy the party!

Since we are also a smaller family owned company, it allows us to provide a more personal touch than some of the bigger DJ's are able to. From your first call or e-mail to the end of your special night you'll be working with the owner - the person who will actually be DJing your event, not just some kid looking to make a few bucks in a weekend. We will work
with you to make your reception everything you've been dreaming of.

Q. How much experience do you have?

A. Flamingo Enterprises has been in business since December 2005. During this time, we have provided our services at countless wedding receptions, school dances, and private parties. Our owner also has experience with live sound from college, and worked with another DJ for several years before branching out on his own.

Q. Do you have references available?

A. Certainly. Many of our previous clients have agreed to be references for us, many of them have filled out a review that is available in the "Consumer Reviews" section of this website, additional references are available by contacting Flamingo Enterprises.

Q. Can I see you in action before I book with you?

A. Probably not. Why? We do not often play open parties, and weddings are private events. It is our belief that the DJ's attention should be on you and your guests, not trying to impress the potential clients watching. We do however now have a promotional DVD available for your viewing. Contact us to receive a copy. We would also be happy to meet with you before your event, and even set up the system for you to see and hear if you'd like.

Q. Can you provide sound for our wedding ceremony?

A. Yes. We have enough equipment to provide sound both for your reception, and for your ceremony.  Rates vary depending on many different factors, so please contact us to discuss the details of your ceremony with us.

Q. Do you use a written contract?

A. Yes. A written contract is really the only way you can be sure what you are getting, and be sure that your DJ doesn't stick you with any hidden costs. If a DJ doesn't use a written contract it may be best, for your own safety, if you don't do business with them.

Q. How good is your equipment?

A. All of our equipment is top-of-the-line professional equipment. We use exclusively the "JBL Professional" line of speakers and sub woofers. Our lighting effects are designed by industry leaders like American DJ and Chauvet Lighting.

Q. Do you carry back-up equipment?

A. To every event. We carry extra of just about everything, so in the unlikely event of an equipment failure, we can quickly fix the problem and continue with the evening.

Q. How far do you travel?

A. We travel 50 miles for free, beyond 50 miles there is a minimum charge of $15, or .50/mile which ever is greater. We unfortunately are affected by the rising gas prices like everyone else. We do however strive to keep our mileage charges reasonable and fair.

Q. How much/what kind of music do you have?

A. Our music library has over 16,000 songs and is continuously growing! With selections as far the "Big Band" Era to the top Country, Pop & Hip Hop of today, we can create a playlist for almost any musical palate.

Q. Do you take requests?

A. YES! We prefer that you and your guests "drive" the dance. We want to make sure that you're listening to the songs you want to hear - not the just the songs we like. We bring a complete catalog of all the songs in our library for everyone to look through, so you never need to ask if we have a certain song.

Q. Are you one of those DJ's that talk all night long?

A. No Way! Our philosophy has always been that people are there to listen and dance to the music, not to listen to us talk. We will introduce certain songs, and of course the wedding party, if you like, but our goal is NOT to be the center of attention.

Q. Do you ever donate your services, or offer discounted rates?

A. Yes. We believe that it is important to give back to the community, and to the people and places that have influenced our lives along the way. Some recipients of our donations have included: Friendship Ventures (which provides camping oppotunites for children and adults with developmental disabilites), The Wright County 4-H Ambassador Program, the Wright/Sherburne County 4-H Camping Program, and the Wright County Head Start Program.

Q. Do we need to feed our DJ?

A. While it is always up to our clients, it is always appreciated if we are allowed to eat. We are often the first to arrive to the reception, and almost always the last to leave often times putting in more than 10 hours including our set up and tear down time.

Q. Should we tip our DJ?

A. Only if you wish to. There are many different views held by clients and DJ's alike about tipping, but our view is clear - We will never ask for or expect a tip, but if you feel our services warranted a tip, it is always very much appreciated.
